Hello!
My name is Caitlin Hemmer and I am a soon-to-be Sign Language Interpreter Program graduate from Georgia State University. Over a decade ago, I graduated from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC and worked in the theatre industry in the northeast for many years. In 2014 I had the absolute pleasure of touring the United States with The National Theatre of the Deaf for one year and even performing in Japan! After the tour concluded, I continued to focus on my theatre career until the pandemic. Like most people, I decided to pivot careers. It was then that the timing finally felt right to begin the journey of becoming an interpreter. My goal in this industry is to merge my two worlds of theatre and interpreting in order to enhance the theatrical experience for all deaf consumers and create more opportunities for theaters to be more involved in the Deaf community. Especially focusing on connecting the many Theatre For Young Audiences (TYA) series here in Atlanta with schools for the deaf and schools with programs for deaf and hard of hearing students.
